-Is a Load Equalizer Required?

A load equalizer or Custom Dynamics® SMART Signal Stabilizer™ is required on earlier model Harley-Davidson® motorcycles to resolve a hyper flash or rapid turn signal flash speed after the factory turn signal bulbs have been converted to LED. 

Due to LED bulbs being low current draw, these early model or non-CanBus electrical systems utilize a load-dependent flasher relay which recognizes there is a significantly lower current draw from the newly installed LED turn signals. The OEM flasher reacts in a similar fashion when a stock turn signal bulb has burned out by flashing the turn signal at the correct speed when initially activated followed by a rapid turn signal flash to alert the rider. In addition, those Harley-Davidson® models equipped with a TSSM or factory alarm may display the red alarm key on the dash in addition to the fast turn signal flash.

While traditional load equalizers use a resistor to add back enough load to correct the hyper flash, Custom Dynamics® SMART Signal Stabilizer™ offers a no-load, no-heat solution which will balance the load for all four turn signals (i.e. one module needed per bike). Available in plug and play fitments for most Harley-Davidson® motorcycles in a sealed weather-tight case with a Lifetime Warranty. 

For some models the OEM flasher relay can be replaced with a no-load solution to correct the fast turn signal flash. Harley-Davidson® Street 500 & 750 models will require the XG Replacement Flasher Relay while some early model Harley-Davidson® motorcycles can utilize one of Custom Dynamics® Auto-Cancel Turn Signal Modules. 

Most metric motorcycles with factory incandescent bulb turn signals will also require a SMART Signal Stabilizer™ when the turn signals are converted to LED. Custom Dynamics® offers a Universal SMART Signal Stabilizer™ with 4 wire tap-in installation for all Kawasaki Cruisers,  Honda Cruisers, Yamaha Cruisers and Suzuki Cruisers.

Custom Dynamics® also offers a replacement M109 Flasher Relay and  Standard Flasher Relay that for Metric motorcycles that have a 2 or 3 pin 12 volt flasher.
