The purpose of this Troubleshooting Guide is to help diagnose symptoms with your latch lights. This covers loose connections and loss of one or all functions on either side latch light. This helps determine if the issue is in one of the harnesses or in one of the Latch Lights.
Troubleshooting Steps:
- Identify the parts that make up the Latch Light Kit light kit. Refer to Photo 1.
- Confirm that the wires have not been pulled from any of the connectors and/or there are no loose pins in the connectors.
- Confirm that the pins are fully seated in the JAE connectors on the Latch Light wiring harness. When looking at the end of the connector, the pins should be seated all the way to the edge of the connector. Refer to Photo 2.
- If the pins will not lock into the connector, confirm they are inserted into the connector in the right orientation. The bottom side of the pin should be inserted to the bottom side of the connector. Refer to Photos 3, 4, and 5.
- Confirm the Latch Light harness connector is pinned out correctly. Refer to Photo 6 for the correct pinout.
- Swap the Left and Right Quick Disconnect harnesses at the MPR Y Harness pigtail connector (Point A in Photo 7 Below).
- Turn the bike on and test for Run, Brake, and Left/Right Turn signals. During turn signal operation, the Latch Lights will illuminate on the opposite side that is activated.
- If the issue is now on the opposite Latch Light there is a problem in the MPR Y Harness or in the Bike’s wiring. If the issue remains on the same Latch Light continue to the next step.
- Swap the Left and Right Quick Disconnect harnesses at the Latch Light Harness (Point B in Photo 8 Below).
- Turn the bike on and test for Run, Brake, and Left/Right Turn signals. During turn signal operation, the Latch Lights will illuminate on the opposite side that is activated.
- If the issue is now on the opposite Latch Light, there is a problem in the Quick Disconnect Harness. If the issue remains on the same Latch Light, there is a problem in the Latch Light harness connector, Latch Light harness and/or Latch Light.
